Tough Turkey in the Big City: A Feathered Tale

Saturday, November 17 | 1:00 PM

After hearing Farmer Brown say that the Big City is "for the birds," Tom embarks upon an unforgettable adventure to New York City, where he falls in love with a Park Avenue pigeon, dances the Turkey Trot at the Turkey Club, and marches in a big parade (guess which one)!

The Schmidt Family Centre for the Arts will present three children’s concerts featuring the piece Tough Turkey in the Big City: A Feathered Tale, a piece commissioned from renowned contemporary composer, Bruce Adolphe, by the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and Chamber Music Northwest.  These performances will be presented in collaboration with The SYMPHONIA, South Florida’s world class chamber orchestra, Saladino Dance Productions, Plumosa School of the Arts and the School District of Palm Beach County.

Tough Turkey is an upbeat, brassy, Thanksgiving odyssey that will expose children to the arts in a stimulating, multi-faceted way through music, dance, drama and narration. Appealing to children of all ages, this piece will stimulate and fire their imagination exposing them to storytelling through music, dance and drama.

This is the second of two public performances at the Mizner Park Cultural Arts Center.  Each performance will be followed by an instrument petting zoo, giving children and their families the opportunity to see, touch and try to play musical instruments.

Light snacks and drinks will be provided.
