What do Cirque du Soleil, Reese Witherspoon, and Harry Potter have in common?

Why Troupe Vertigo, of course!

Founded a decade ago by Aloysia Gavre and Rex Camphuis, Troupe Vertigo straddles – or perhaps vaults between – the worlds of circus and Hollywood.

Gavre spent over 20 years performing with Cirque du Soleil, and Camphuis has a long and venerable resume in the film and TV production world. As a result, the pair often shares its expertise with the entertainment industry – most notably for Rebel Wilson's aerial performance in Pitch Perfect 2 and with Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz, who utilized Cirque School resources not only for circus instruction, but for character background research for the film Water for Elephants.

As to the Harry Potter connection, well, the soundtrack to that popular film series is but one of the many orchestral works that will be part of the Troupe Vertigo performance – CIRQUE DU CINEMA – at Festival Boca’s opening night, February 28, 2020.

Cirque SchoolTroupe Vertigo travels the world presenting its eclectic and refreshing mix of circus-dance-theater works that ignite the imagination with mentally and physically spellbinding performances. But that theatricality masks a fascinating mission. Troupe Vertigo’s facility in LA is also home to Cirque School, the city’s premier circus training space, which inspires an appreciation for the circus arts for "Anybody with Any Body," all in a supportive, non-competitive environment.

Cirque School welcomes individuals of all ages, sizes and abilities and offers over 50 weekly classes to the public, student performances, team building workshops, pre-professional intensives and television and film projects.

As founder Aloysia Gavré says, “With Circus I discovered a world where art, performance, and one’s own unique physical talents came together. I wanted to give that same opportunity to others. No matter your age or fitness level, the workouts at Cirque School are designed for anybody with any body type. All you need is a belief in yourself.”

Troupe Vertigo will be bringing and spreading some of that passion with the Boca Raton community when it visits next February, and will hold special outreach classes with gymnasts, acrobats and artists who may dream of running off with the circus.

For the rest of us, we can just sit back and enjoy the stunning acrobatic abilities of the Troupe Vertigo artists, as they soar above and around the Symphonia musicians as they tee up music from your favorite hero movies including Batman, Mission Impossible, Harry Potter and Star Wars.
