Where are Future Stars Made?

January 4, 2024 | BocaFest

In 2003, Rick Taylor’s daughter was a budding high school vocalist. But there were few outlets for her to get live performance experience. Taylor believed talented young people deserved more and better productions in which to showcase and develop their talents.

Future Stars was born.

Run by The Rotary Club of Boca Raton for the past 19 years, the mission of the Future Stars Performing Arts Competition is to give South Florida’s most talented high school and middle school performers a professional quality production worthy of their amazing talent, and an opportunity to perform on a big stage in front of large audiences. It is the largest event of its kind in the Southeast United States.

Last year, Future Stars was integrated into Festival of the Arts Boca. And it was such a successful, fun performance, that we decided to do it again.

Many of the past young artists who honed their craft on The Future Stars stage have gone on to national acclaim in TV, recording, stage and screen, including Chloe Dolandis, Kendra Erika, Maggie Baugh, Mason Pace, Alex Anderson and Billy Bell.

The audition for this year’s show will be held in early 2024.  Details will be published on the organizers’ Facebook page.

Judges for the Future Stars competition are esteemed dance and vocal professionals.  Each participant receives a finalist medal and the top three performers in each category receive awards.

But if you ask the participants, they’d tell you that the real prize is the opportunity to perform on a beautiful South Florida night on one of the loveliest stages you can find, with dynamite professional sound and lighting, with all their friends and family there to cheer them on.

The Future Stars competition takes place at Festival Boca on Tuesday, March 5. Tickets can be acquired here.
